The cities
Olympia
The capital, and it acts like it: walkable downtown, farmers market on the water, craftsman neighborhoods on the hills. Steady government employment keeps the market grounded.
Lacey
The practical pick. Newer neighborhoods, parks and lakes everywhere, and the shortest Thurston commute to JBLM. First-time buyers and PCS families land here for good reason.
Tumwater
South of the capital with a brewery-town history, quick I-5 access, and a mix of established streets and new construction. Feels smaller than it is, in the best way.
Yelm
The country option: acreage, small-town pace, and a straight shot up SR-507 toward the base. Buyers go to Yelm for land and stay for the pace.
